Year at a Glance

Fall 2016

  • NCHI's new website launched along with a sneak preview of our new logo! Special thanks to our Rising Star intern, Gloria Campbell for designing our website and logo.
  • Construction began on Northside Unity Homes. Click here for more info on our For Sale homes.
  • Invest STL awarded NCHI (in partnership with Carrolton Bank) a CRA Ladder of Capacity grant. The grant will support the expansion of our financial education & homeownership efforts.

Summer 2016

  • NCHI's community Open House was a great success! It was an opportunity for community members to share their insights and learn about NCHI.
  • The 2016 Ville Block Party, sponsored by The Ville Collaborative, was also a success and provided back to school supplies for hundreds of youth.
  • The first of NCHI's Greater Ville Homes was sold to a new homebuyer.  Click here for more info on our For Sale homes.
  • NCHI supported the Regional Arts Commission's 2016 place-based Community Arts Training class, which included residents from the Ville.

 

Spring 2016
  • Mona Majid joined NCHI's staff as the new Community Development Coordinator. Mona is leading the organization's lease-purchase homeownership program (Make it Home) and community outreach efforts.
  • Greta Henderson joined the NCHI Board of Directors. Greta is a community resident and volunteer and the Clinic Coordinator for the SLU Law Clinic.
  • Jenny Connelly-Bowen joined NCHI for the summer as a Rising Star Intern. Jenny created & re-designed various NCHI marketing materials.
 
Winter 2015/2016
  • NCHI's Board of Directors approved the new 2016-2020 NCHI Strategic Plan. Click here to view our full strategic plan.
  • Two new NCHI committees were established: Asset Management and Marketing & Fundraising.
  • NCHI acquired O'Fallon III & Belle Glade Homes, 31 single-family, lease-purchase homes.
  • Our Home Repair Program provided minor repairs to 40 homeowners in several North St. Louis neighborhoods. Many thanks to Candy Boyd, our Brown School of Social Work intern, and DGH Services, our contractor.
  • The Ville Collaborative transformed nearly an acre of land owned by NCHI into what is now The Ville Family Gardens-a small community garden park.

 

Stories

Financial Education Classes

Together, Northside Community Housing Inc. and Carrollton Bank conducted the first financial education class for community residents focused on budgeting and credit building.  Click here to learn more about the program!
